Pain Unnerving

The hollow feeling in her chest remained but Avrielle was starting to feel more like herself again. She stood and walked to the very front of the bridge, staring out the view port. It's so sad. So many people, forgotten for so long. She turned and headed for the doors she came through. Grivyk seemed worried about her and asked where she was going. She wasn't concerned with the living right now. She didn't even turn to face him when she mumbled that she needed to meditate and left the bridge.

In their quarters, she had opened the shades on the windows all the way, and had lit her meditation incense on the coffee table in front of her. Avrielle had no idea how long she'd been at it, nor how long she'd continue to meditate. She wanted to continue until an answer of what to do would come to her. She figured she'd feel it when it was time to stop and take some sort of action. Her chest still had that hollow, aching feeling. She was at least hoping that feeling would go away before she stopped, but she had a sneaking suspicion that might be a feeling she'd have to learn to live with. Is this what they mean by heartache? She wondered, distracted. She pushed her thoughts aside again, and focused on her breathing, slowly, she began the prayers again, and again, and again...
